NIO has unveiled the ONVO L60 EV, the new brand of Sino-German smart electric vehicles. The L60 is the latest emblem of the mid-size family SUV car embedded in the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin system-on-a-chip. This will be seen as a strong move in NIO’s plans to launch smarter, safer, and more affordable electric vehicle solutions for mainstream family adventure SUV cars.
In January, NIO launched ONVO, a shortened ‘On Voyage’, to embrace its mission of improving daily driving experiences with innovative technologies. The L60 is driven by NVIDIA DRIVE Orin, which doubles as the AI driving system of its high-end endorsed smart-driving system (OSD). With a speed of up to 254 trillion operations per second, the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin processes data from the L60’s sensor, which includes high-definition cameras that can detect up to 687 meters ahead and 4D radar detection up to 370 meters.
This system uses NVIDIA DriveOS, an AI-powered car operating system. Several global automobile manufacturers, including the other models of NIO, the ET7, ET5, and ES7, have adopted it. In addition to advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving, the software is upgradable over the air to fine-tune the solution permanently.
Performance is not the only aspect of the NIO ONVO L60; the device is stylish and functional. The SUV boasts six electric vehicle safety features: comprehensive safety, smart cabins with immersive digital experiences, spacious comfort, superior ride and handling, impressive mileage range with convenient recharging, and advanced assisted driving capabilities.
The standard version is priced at ¥149,900 ($21,000). The L-model comes equipped with Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), a preference for 7 out of 10 NIO buyers. It complements NIO well because NIO has been building over 2,500 power swap stations in China.
The L60 is the sixth vehicle by the ONVO series from NIO and NVIDIA, which collaborated to feature sophisticated features and good-quality AVs at an affordable price.
