Singapore Fintech Festival (SFF) is outdoing itself this year and going global with a week-long event that will provide both a digital and physical experience.
With COVID-19 still spreading, SFF 2020 is going digital this year, providing participants with the ability to livestream the entirety of the five-day event in the comfort of their home. For those looking for in-person activities and face-to-face networking opportunities, a series of localized events will be organized around the world by SFF’s global partners.
All about people and talent
With the COVID-19 pandemic shaking up the whole world and underscoring the need for innovation and resilience to overcome the unexpected, this year’s SFF will be centered on people and talent, with a particular focus on reskilling and upskilling the financial and tech workforce. The event will discuss key global challenges focused on post-pandemic recovery, and address other hot topics including inclusion, green technologies and sustainability.
Online 24 hours for five days
Taking place from December 7 to 11, SFF 2020 will feature a 24-hour online experience throughout the five-day event. This online event platform will comprise a so-called “digital city” featuring more than 800 speakers from around the world, including leaders in finance and technology, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and officials from multilateral agencies.
SFF 2020 participants will be able to access live content broadcasts running round-the-clock as well as on-demand sessions.
Five global summits
SFF 2020 will feature five global summits – the Economics Summit, the Infrastructure Summit, the Impact Summit, the Investor Summit and the Talent Summit –, which will focus on driving cross-border commercial activity to support pandemic recovery, and how financial institutions should position themselves in 2021.
Themes and topics will include tech priorities for financial institutions in 2021, green finance, e-commerce, fintech partnerships, digital finance in Africa, digital nations, digital identity, micropensions and microinsurance, financial inclusion, decentralization, ASEAN investment trends, and more.

Satellite events in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Asia-Pacific (APAC)
In addition to these, several local events will be held around the world to provide in-person attendees access to networking opportunities with industry leaders and sponsors. These satellite events will also be accessible virtually.
For example, in Paris, the Choose France for Fintech event on December 8, will take place at the Palais Brongniart for in-person attendance but will also be broadcasted live to SFF 2020 participants. Similarly, Shift Money will take place from December 7 to 8, at art gallery Lauba in Zagreb, Croatia, and will allow both in-person and online attendance. Other SFF 2020 satellite events that will allow for physical attendance include World Fintech Festival in Chongqing, China, World Fintech Festival in Brunei Darussalam and World Fintech Festival in Rwanda.
Digital-only satellite events will include the Afro-Asia Fintech Festival (Nairobi, Kenya), Holland Fintech Online Meetup (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Impact finance’20 (Warsaw, Poland), and the 2nd Shanghai Fintech International Forum (Shanghai, China).

Other activities and networking opportunities
SFF 2020 will also feature several other activities and networking opportunities taking place throughout the five days. These include:
- Deal Friday, a series of curated investor/corporate-startup matchmaking sessions;
- Ask-Me-Anything sessions to discuss and build connections within the fintech community; and
- Virtual meet-up sessions to facilitate sharing.
The annual Fintech Awards and Global Fintech Hackcelerator demo, both on December 10, as well as the Innovation Lab Crawl, are other events part of SFF 2020 to look forward to.
