The PP calls for the resignation of the president of Aena for

The Popular Party has called for the “immediate” resignation of the president of Aena, Maurici Lucena, “for making his functions compatible with electoral activity” in Catalonia, after knowing that he would be the economic vice president if the PSC headed by Salvador Illa governed the Generalitat after the 14-F.

This has been requested by the PP transport spokesman in Congress, Andrés Lorite, who has asked the Government in writing when he plans to dismiss Lucena as president of the Spanish airport manager.

“We consider that it is not acceptable in the current health alert situation for Aena to continue to be directed by a part-time president, and for him to reconcile his functions at the head of the company with those of his candidacy for vice president of the Generalitat,” he said. said the spokesman in statements to Europa Press.

On January 28, the socialist candidate for the Presidency of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Salvador Illa, announced that if he were elected president, he would propose the current president of Aena, Maurici Lucena, as economic vice president, a proposal that was accepted by the president of Aena, although it will continue to lead the company until its eventual incorporation into a possible regional government chaired by Salvador Illa.

“It does not seem reasonable for the head of the Aena company to make his functions compatible with the electoral activity of his already official candidacy,” Lorite criticized.

In this sense, he has pointed out that “it is not acceptable” that Aena is going to be directed by a person “without exclusive dedication” in these moments of health alert in which the threat of the spread of Covid-19 in its different varieties through air transport.

In addition, from the PP they have criticized that Lucena’s management at the head of Aena has had “different demonstrations of malpractice” referring to health security during the pandemic in the airport precincts or the “chaos” originated in the Madrid-Barajas Airport during the storm ‘Filomena’.
