The Renfe board today gave the green light to the tender for the development works of the Renfe as a Service (RaaS) comprehensive mobility platform with the intention of offering it to suppliers and customers by the end of 2021. The public operator expects to enter from 38 to 156 million extra in five years thanks to induced demand, as well as generating 1.8 million new trips.

The platform has been conceived to bring together different modes of transport (train, bicycle, metro, bus, carsharing, scooter, etc.), public and private, that allow the traveler to move from door to door with a single payment and without leaving the application. In addition, the user will have access to maps, messages to guide them in intermodality, recommendations for the best routes, and so on.

The initiative, Renfe stressed, is consistent with the objectives of the company’s Strategic Plan and with the Mobility Strategy of the Ministry of Transport (Mitma).
