PRISA, the editorial group of Cinco Días, has decided to reject the offer received by businessman Blas Herrero to take over the group’s media unit, which also includes the newspaper El País, the sports As and radio stations such as Cadena Ser or 40 Main. This has been decided by the Board of Directors in a meeting held this Friday.

“The company will continue to operate in accordance with its roadmap defined at the beginning of this year, in the development and enhancement of its education and media projects, as has been consistently communicated to the market; and it will be within this framework in which it will evaluate, if appropriate in the future, any expression of interest that it may receive, as has been the case with the transactions reported in recent weeks, “the company says in a statement sent to the CNMV.

As the company reported to the CNMV on Thursday, Herrero submitted an “unsolicited” offer and, according to its own terms, “it is not binding until certain conditions are met.” The owner of Kiss FM has sent a letter to the board of directors of PRISA that includes the offer to acquire the assets, both written, radio and audiovisual, of the group that constitutes PRISA Medios. The proposal does not include the education business unit.
