Primark remains faithful to its model despite the fact that the greats of the textile trade accelerate their digital transformation and thin their networks of physical stores. The Irish company has confirmed this Tuesday the opening of four more stores in Spain, in addition to the three that it had already planned to open this year, and which will allow it to reach 57 stores in the country in 2022.
The four new stores announced today will be located in Cádiz, Girona, San Sebastián and Madrid. In the first case in the Bahía Sur Shopping Center in San Fernando, with an area of more than 3,000 square meters and which will open its doors at the end of 2021. The second will be located in the Espai Girones Shopping Center, in Girona, with more than 3,700 square meters of surface in a two-storey premises, while the third will be located in the Garbera Shopping Center in San Sebastían. Finally, Primark will open a new flagship in the center of Madrid, on Calle Conde de Peñalver in the Salamanca Cinema building and where a C&A store used to be located. According to the company, both this and Girona will open at the end of 2022.
In addition, this year the chain will open the stores advertised in Bilbao, Vigo and Marbella. The sum of the seven establishments will mean the creation of 650 jobs, according to Primark calculations. “Spain was the first major market for Primark in Western Europe more than a decade ago and we are delighted to open seven new stores in new locations as part of our continued expansion in Spain,” said the CEO of Primark in Spain Carlos Inacio.
