The historic president of Pimec, Josep González, announced this Tuesday that he is leaving his post in the Catalan SME employers’ association “immediately and irrevocably” after 24 years in office. He has proposed Antoni Cañete, current Secretary General, as his replacement.
González has communicated his resignation to the board of directors and the executive committee. He indicated that it is a “considered” decision that he had already planned, although he has delayed it due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and that he has taken it “without any type of pressure, problem or crisis.”
“I’m healthy. No impediment allows me to continue, but I had the will not to exhaust my four-year mandate, ”explained González, who will turn 76 in May. González already announced in 2020 that this would be his last term as president and it was stipulated to end in June 2022.
