Ferrovial grows in Georgia (USA) with a work of 192 million

The construction Webber, a subsidiary of Ferrovial In the United States, the contract for the improvement of a section of the American highway I-16 / I-75 has been awarded for 229 million dollars (192 million euros). The work, promoted by the Georgia Department of Transportation, is located around the city of Macon (Georgia, USA).

Webber will perform at joint venture with the local company United Infrastructure Group for the expansion and reconstruction of a section of more than 7.4 kilometers, the construction of 21 bridges and the reconstruction of the links to I-16 / I-75. Its tasks will include expanding the hard shoulders, installing concrete barriers and additional lanes along most of the stretch. The activity will last until the end of 2024.

This is the second project for Webber in Georgia, where he is responsible for the rehabilitation of I-75 / SR 401 in Clayton and Henry counties. With this, the subsidiary acts in 40 projects spread across Texas, Virginia and Georgia.

At the end of 2020, Webber pulled the results of the construction area of ​​Ferovial, with a 26% increase in sales, to 1,038 million euros. Its contribution to the portfolio fell, however, 19%, to 1,486 million.

Growing up in the United States is one of the objectives of Ferrovial’s strategic plan, Horizon 24. There it has its main source of income and assets in operation such as the Texas LBJ, NTE and NTE 35W highways; I-66 in Virginia, and I-77 in North Carolina.
