Spanish vehicle production fell again in October after the break in September. 265,504 vehicles were assembled last month, a slight decrease of 1.7% compared to the same month in 2019.

According to data published this Friday by the manufacturers’ association, Anfac, Spanish vehicle factories accumulate a 25% decline until October, with 1.8 million cars manufactured.

Anfac has explained that the drop in production in October when exports are growing shows the importance of the domestic market also for Spanish factories. The registrations of passenger cars and SUVs fell by 21% in October and Spain was the third market that is recovering worst within the European environment.

In addition, it was the country that suffered the greatest decline compared to Germany (-3.6%), the United Kingdom (-1.6%), France (-9.5%) or Italy (-0.2%). The national market is the third largest destination for buying vehicles made in Spain, only behind France and Germany, so the slow progression of domestic demand is being a determining factor for the recovery of the production rate of Spanish factories , according to the employer.

Specifically, Spanish plants produced 214,138 passenger cars in October, 2.8% more in the year-on-year comparison; 50,663 commercial and industrial vehicles, 12.5% ​​less, and 703 SUVs and pickups, 82% less. Since January they assembled 1.42 million passenger cars, 24.1% less; 6,573 SUVs and pickups, 80.9% less, and 373,166 commercial and industrial vehicles, 23.7% less.

Regarding exports, the national factories sent 230,785 vehicles abroad in the tenth month of the course, 3.7% more, although they accumulated a decrease of 20.8% until October, with 1.54 million units.
